Coaches Notes
Hey Team,
Saturday's WOD is brought to you by the lovely Donna Gray, our Member of the Month. Donna is awesome and she has a tough one in store for us! Check out Donna's MOTM interview below.

Nicknames: Dons, Donut, Kebab
What were you doing before CFCB?
Literally just before? Sitting on the couch, pregnant, and eating for 2!
I’ve always been fairly active, playing hockey (or Field hockey should I say) and waterpolo at school and my first year of university. And then going to the gym, running, doing exercise classes such as barre, lagree and spinning.
How did you find CFCB and what did you expect?
I was looking for something for my husband to do and had heard about Crossfit and found CFCB was minutes from where we lived. He tried it and really liked it and said I would too. After going to watch the Battle in the Barracks in 2014, I wasn’t so sure. I wasn’t strong and I certainly wasn’t a weightlifter. He gave me the Foundations sessions for my birthday anyway – men and their thoughtfulness :)
What have you gotten out of Crossfit and CFCB (goals reached/accomplishments, etc)?
First and foremost, I have gotten in the best shape I have ever been in in my life. Even though it took me about a year to feel completely comfortable with all the moves (well just the bar actually) I cannot understand why everyone doesn’t do it! I can now also do 1 strict pull up, string 5 kipping pull ups together, as well as 6 toes to bar and I can not only climb up a rope, but I can get down too without ripping the skin off my lower shins :)
What are you working on now/hoping to achieve in the coming months/year?
I’d love to get more pull ups and be able to kick up into a handstand (Yes, this still haunts me), and finally, maybe a muscle up. I’d also like to compete in the Open too which terrifies me slightly.
I almost forgot. Double unders. One day I will show them whose boss :)
What do you like to do outside CFCB?
I enjoy running and spinning. I’m also getting back into skiing after 5years of pregnancies and young kids. My complete self-indulgence is to sit on my own and have a cup of coffee that I can enjoy without screaming after 2 crazy kids.
Oh and wine. I like drinking wine :)
Anything else you would like to share about yourself?
We moved to Canada 6 years ago and its taken me a long time to settle here, but I’m finally feeling like this is home. And a great deal has to do with this Crossfit community. I’m so grateful to all the coaches and my fellow Crossfitters for your support, friendship, and encouragement. What an amazing bunch of people you all are.
